7 Things everyone should know about weight loss

Last week my school friend saw me after a decade she was surprised by my transformation she wanted to know all about my journey. I always used to think that everybody knows how to lose weight there is nothing new that I did.

 When I started my journey, I made so many mistakes unknowingly. That impacted my health and as a result I gained even more weight.

We all have heard that to lose weight we must eat less or leave our favourite food. The idea is to have the balance, knowing the basics. However, when I lost a lot of weight, a lot of my friends and family asked me how?  So, what is the mantra about losing weight? What did I do differently that give me these results? Is it possible for anybody in any age to lose weight?

Forget the weight machine: There are different ways to measure results weighing machine is not the only one. Fat loss can also happen without changing the number on that weight machine. When our body loses fat, it gets converted into muscles. I weigh almost the same (rather 1-2 kgs more) now than what I used to 2 years back, but my clothes size has changed. That is because the fat got converted into muscles.

Eat Clean: Eating clean means eat more real food. Have more vegetables, fruits, dairy products, and whole grains in your diet. It will not only cover your daily requirement for nutritious value in your body, its great for your hair and skin as well.

Have a balance: If you are craving for an Ice cream go eat that ice cream however create a balance in the other meals in your day. For example: when I want to eat an ice cream, I plan to cut down the rest of my meal’s calories in the day. I will plan my meals accordingly or will compensate the next day by managing to eat less calorie dense food.

Do not believe everything you read: Not every article on internet or newspaper, every social media post is true. Everyone is different what works for me, may not work for my mother since we have an age difference. Also, her metabolism is different than mine, her health requirement is different than mine and her body type is different then mine. The idea is to know what will work for you.

Calorie deficit: No matter how well you eat or how healthy your diet is if you are eating more than your body can burn you can never lose weight. You must be in calorie deficit. Your bodyweight is dependent on the difference between the calorie you consume and the calorie you can burn.

No negotiations on work out: You need to have at least 20 minutes of physical activity/workout in a day. It not only helps you lose fat, but it also helps maintaining healthy bones and keeps our heart healthy. Adding workout in your daily routine reduces the feeling of depression and anxiety.

Train your mind: I believe to achieve anything in life we need to go ahead and train our mind. Your mind could be your best friend or your worst enemy. You would need to make full use of it. Come out of your comfort soon, put yourself in difficult situation and trust me you can do wonders. You would not know how great you can do until and unless you put yourself in those difficult situations. It is not going to be a smooth right. changes take time, it cannot happen overnight. Even Rome was not built in a day. Be consistent, have faith, results will show.
