What is the desire to feel important? What do you want in life?

The few things that you want, you wish for, you carve with an insistence that will not be denied are the basic necessities like food, water, good health, sleep, money, children, husband to name a few. However, one of the important things that everybody desires, deep inside is the feeling of importance.

Go ahead, you may want to deny the fact that you do not want to feel important. However, this feeling that you have is almost as deep as the desire for food or sleep which is seldom gratified.

It was the desire for feeling of importance that inspired Shakespeare to write his immortal literature and this is the same desire that made the richest family in India to own the biggest house in the world .It was the desire to feel important that led an uneducated, poverty-stricken tea hawker to study and join politics to make a difference.

In fact, this is the same desire why we want to wear the latest styles, drive the latest cars and talk about our brilliant children or spouses.

Now if you’re thinking that why would we want to feel important?

If you care thinking “No, I have never desired to feel important!”

Think again and Think hard.

We all nourish our children, our spouse, our family but how seldom do we nourish their self esteem?

We all go ahead and play our part in our family in our household to provide them with roof, food, money but we neglect to give them words of appreciation that would sing in their memories for years and this would boost their confidence.

We usually spend 90 to 95% of our time thinking about ourselves. Now if we stop thinking about ourselves, our problems for a while and begin to think of the other person’s good points the appreciation will come naturally.

One of the most neglected things of our daily life is appreciation. Somehow, we also neglect to appreciate or praise the people that matter to us, Our mother, our family, our spouse, our son or daughter. Just remember how you feel when somebody appreciates you that one moment of joy that boosts your confidence.

But there is a difference between appreciation and flattery. Appreciation is always sincere; it’s from our heart and flattery is insincere. So, after reading this if you start complimenting people (family, spouse, children) well that’s great you took my advice, but it must come from your heart.

How about from today instead of expecting an appreciation we go ahead and appreciate (don’t flatter) everything around us and let the people around us know how much you appreciate them and why. Give honest and sincere appreciation

Hurting people does not change them but when you appreciate them it builds their confidence. They enjoy that one moment, they want to go ahead and repeat the same action that made you appreciate them.

Trust me and do this for the next 21 days it will sweeten and strengthen your relations.
