Do you get dark thoughts?
What to do when you get dark thoughts?
Is it normal to have dark thoughts all the time?
We all have darkness inside us. In fact several well-conducted studies have discovered that close to 100% of the general population has intrusive and disturbing thoughts, images or ideas.
Dark thoughts could be anything like anger, evil, sadness, jealousy, or envy. It can be different for different people. The idea is to not let that darkness that is inside us grow. Before we fight with the world, there is a constant fight inside us that we need to win. In my experience, there is always a way to as well to eliminate the darkness inside.
Shifting the way you think means you’re consciously stopping an established thought pattern.
How to stop the dark thoughts all together?
- Reason: If we want to solve or address a concern, we need to know the reason. Know the WHY. Why would you let someone disrespect you? Why would you get sad over a fight? Why would you not move on? Why would you let someone abuse you physically or emotionally? Why someone keep eating the same junk when they know its unhealthy? Ask yourself why you’re having negative or bad thoughts. Once you’ve slowed down and thought about the reason you are upset, it’s time to question why. You need to find the reason behind your thoughts and then be ready to accept that we all have good and bad times and it’s okay to share.
- Action: Always remember first step of taking an action is always difficult but it gets smooth thereafter. Do not let your emotions rule you. Things that matters does not come easy. So, the next time when you get dark thoughts do not stay in the same state for a long time. Practice Mindfulness and Self-Awareness · Identify Your Negative Thoughts · Replace Negative Thoughts with happy/positive thoughts
- Example: Try… Instead of saying I should stop thinking this way: I see that I’m having anxious thoughts right now.
Or Instead of saying I should go to the gym every day: I will try my best to go to the gym every day.
- Repeat: This one is easy. When ever you get stuck in your negative thoughts try to understand the reason for your thoughts and then take action. Since now you know the drill, next time some dark thoughts occur your mind repeat the same process. REASON – ACTION – REPEAT.
