How to kill your inner demon

A few days back, my brother and I were chilling in the evening at home. I asked him to get me a bottle of water and waited for him to respond, but he was preoccupied so said will bring it in sometime. The funny part was I only waited for him to respond for only 30 seconds or less and stood up to bring water. I got agitated with him since water is basic necessity. Maybe he was in middle of something. If I was thirsty I shouldn’t have told him instead should have done it. But now when I think about it, it wasn’t a big deal. I got agitated over nothing.

My point is we all like things to be done in a certain way. For example I like promptness but expecting everyone around me to be prompt as well is not right. This above incident may sounds small but such small incidents happen every day and it causes friction in our mind.

I m sure we all have those list of small habits that we do not like. Now it’s one thing to not do something YOU don’t like, but to expect the same from others is unfair. Even if we have best interest in our heart for someone it is unfair to expect them to be like us.

All human beings are like coins. We all have two sides to our personality. We all have both Angel and Demon with in us.

The more you feed them, the more they will grow.
It is upto you whom to feed, your inner ANGEL or DEMON.

The more you feed them the more they will grow inside you. So for example, if you practice kindness more everyday eventually you are making it embedded in your personality. That means you feed the Angel inside you. Similarly if get angry or irrigated frequently and you do not make a conscious effort to reduce it. You are feeding the Demon inside you.

We all have some behaviours or habits that needs to be changed. These behaviours may sound harmless habits but it feeds our inner demon. Behaviors like laziness, slow workers, procasstination, anger, agitation, irritation, envy, jealousy, lower self esteem and list goes on.

Let’s RAP and kill our inner DEMONS.

Recognise: We need to look ourselves with a microscopic view. Recognise the small habits we have. It cause friction in our mind and our relationship with others. Sit down and write your habits. It can be as small as to forget things, or laziness, or as big as having a habit to control every thing.

Acceptance : Here in this step, we need to accept that we all have certain behaviours that needs to be changed. We need to accept that is okay to have flaws, we all do. However, these small flaws we have may spoil our inner peace. We need to accept that we should stop feeding our inner DEMONS.

Practice : This is the most difficult task to do. We need to practice every day to let go of the behavior or habit we recognised earlier. We need to make a conscious effort to change. Make a conscious effort to overlook those small things that makes you angry or agitated easily.

Changes do not happen, need to make a conscious effort. Feed your inner ANGEL. Practice kindness, empathy, generosity, it will turn you into the kind of human you want to see in this world.

You cannot defeat darkness by running from it, nor can you conquer your inner demons by hiding them from the world. In order to defeat the darkness, you must bring it into the light.- Adam Smith
