Sleep – A brain food

We always give priority to our food, personal hygiene, clothes and other necessities of life.
However, we often ignore the importance of quality of sleep.
With this pandemic, stress, work from home environment, social media distractions, getting a good sound sleep may get challenging.

I m working from home in this pandemic and twice in a week I also have some trainings to attend. So my entire day is pre-planned with work and family. In amidst of all this a family friend dropped in to visit us. And the circumstances were such that I would not take off from work due to prior work commitments. So used to entertain the family friend, took them out for shopping, showed them some cool food joints and some touristy stuff. In all this for almost a week my sleep got suffered since I used to attend the guest in the day time and work at night.

We always give priority to our food, personal hygiene, clothes and other necessities of life.

However, we often ignore the importance of quality of sleep. Sleep is an integral part of our Health.
I have personally felt when I do not sleep well or I do not get a good quality sleep I get constant headaches, my mood fluctuates and I have lower level of patience. The other words, my brain does not function to its optimum level.

Let’s understand WHY SLEEP IS CRITICAL.

1. It’s boost our mood and energy throughout the day.

2. It improves academic performance and creativity
It reduces stress and anxiety
Supports growth and strengthens immune response

3. Improves memory and helps in proper brain function

4. It helps repair our bodies cell, muscles and heart vessels

5. Researchers recently found that not getting enough sleep consistently could cause the brain to clear a significant amount of neurons and synaptic connections.

6. Improves Emotional Quotient and all mental health issues like ADHD

7. Prevents weight gain. A lack of sleep may affect a person’s desire or ability to maintain a healthful lifestyle, but it may or may not be a direct contributor to weight gain

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.” –Steve Jobs

  2. Yes, there was a time when I was struggling with insomnia. I had gained weight and could hardly remember anything. Since last two years, I’ve started sleeping better. Now, as soon as I feel sleepy, I ditch everything and go to sleep! Have been feeling a lot better!
